About

Hello! I’m Chris.

It feels uncmofortable to write about myself but here it goes…

My wife and I are raising three little ones, a boy and two girls. Our youngest one is in the picture above from 2021 where she’s about one year old.

I work in engineering, software and electrical. There is a lot of satisfaction from providing a product or service, especially when its helping people live or feel better.

Some of the things I’ve worked on

Enterprise hard drive firmware Automotive infotainment
Maxtor SATA hard drives Bose Media System (Ferarri / Masarati)
Firmware, serial flash drivers, performance optimizations, ASIC bring up, board bring up. Worked on the OS team. Cut boot time to the full UI from ~18s down to ~6s. Splash screen loader and video driver in U-Boot so the screen displays a logo within half a second.
Medical devices Fitness equipment
Quidel Sophia Q Cybex Cardio Equipment
Firmware in a BLE enabled reader for test casettes. The casettes could be used to diagnose COVID, Flu, Lyme, and other diseases. BLE security. FDA design controls. Validation software. Cardio equipment firmware. Improved boot time, implemented workout program adjustments, audio chip drivers, microprocessor SPI and UART drivers. Worked on next-gen Linux based follow on project until the company was purchased by LifeFitness.

And a number of others that I can’t discuss (yet) due to NDAs. I don’t take any offense with these NDAs. They protect against undesired disclosure of information, so competitors won’t get advance notice of the work, and ensure various partners and vendors can’t name drop without permission.

Open Source

I’m an Open Source enthusiast. I’ve been contributing to Open Source Software (OSS) and using Linux since it was introduced to me in college, way back in 1997. Building upon existing OSS software and tools lets you focus on the innovative areas of your specific need or problem.

You can find my Open Source work on GitHub, and GitLab.
